It maybe possible, but it's always polite to take an interpreter if you're not sure your Spanish isn't up to the job.

For the cost of around €20 it's worth taking a translator and it might save you a second trip!!...

Hi Thomas,
Our first attempt at applying for residency was at the Foreigners' office in Torrevieja in 2016 - not a good experience! Even though our lawyer had completed the application forms for us and checked our supporting documentation, we were marched out of the Foreigners' office as fast as we arrived. At the reception area, the police officer pointed to a list of requirements posted on the wall which were written in English - of which the last one was "Translator". I agree with Steve, for the sake of €20 or so, take a translator with you.
