Hi There, my husband and me we are thinking to move to Altea very soon. We are Italians (Milan) and we actually live between Milan and Barcelona. We would love to know people that like us moved to Altea and meet new friends there.

Ciao Tizi!
You have chosen a very beautiful town to move to. I moved here a month ago and I love it.
What age range/interests are you looking for in friends? I am in my late 40's. Single. Artistic. Learning Spanish and I know some Italian too (I spent 18 months in la Toscana many years ago).
Look me up when you get here.
Regards
Lorna

Dear Lorna,
nice to meet you! We are planning to visit Altea in a few months, because we hope to see it out of the Summer season. We actually live in Sitges, which is a very very nice place, but we would love to move South.
How is Altea during the Winter? We are afraid of those villages where everything shut down after the Summer.
I am 50 years old, very found of sports and natural life. I work in photography.
Where do you come from?
Please, let's keep in touch...
Best,
Tiziana

Hi Tizi,
We are in the same boat! I have been scouring the internet looking for an apartment and it's so overwhelming. There is soooo much to see.
Have you any idea which part of Altea you would like to live in? I love the old town because it's vibrant and I love markets. However I'm worried about having a house there and suffering from too much noise, however I love to walk to places and not have to depend on a car, so if I'm lucky to find somewhere not too far, that's a plus. I know the views are to die for around the hillside expat residences but a view has a price tag.
I will welcome ideas you have already received.
Thanks
Ciao tutti/ Hola todos!
I don't know much about the property market as I am only renting a small flat in town at the moment. My location is perfect for me because it's 5 minutes' walk from everything and I have an underground parking space. Where I live, I need it. (I live at the bottom at the north end very near the sports complex & beach.) The thing about living in the Old town is there is nowhere to put a car so be mindful of that when you're shopping at Mercadona/Hiperbar down the hill though there are other smaller shops nearby. True the views are better higher up and probably alot quieter outside of the main town though the Old town will still be busy with tourists most of the year. There is a bus that can bring you into town I think if you live up in the hills.
It's started to get quite chilly here now, (and only now - the end of November! Two weeks ago it was 21 degrees during the day). Most buildings are generally not built for the cooler weather but I'm sure,Tizi, you will be used to that in Sitges. I'm told the coldest month is February but this is my first winter so can't tell you from direct experience. I imagine it is comparable, if a little bit warmer, than Sitges.
For me, this is the best, most beautiful town in the world. I love it here. Vibrant, arty, laidback, not too touristy, beautiful buildings and artisan shops, plenty of bars and restaurants, a light that is phenomenal and ever-changing every day, the town just looks fantastic at any time of day.
Hope this helps. Good luck with your search and hope to meet you both soon.

Hi Lorna,
Thank you so much for your feedback, I find the tips very valuable.
One agent did mention some apartments by the port/yacht area. I figured this will be a busy area. I was focusing on Altea La Vella since I've been hearing that Altea Hills is more upmarket.
I am not in Spain yet, I'm compiling the property list for viewing. I would certainly love to meet you. (How do you send private info like email here)
Enjoy Altea and tell me more as you grow more roots.
Hi Susie
There should be a button above the messaging area entitled 'private message'. But I will send you one so you can respond to me directly.
Good luck and look forward to having a coffee when you get here.
Lorna
