Go to your local Centro Medico in Altea with your passport and European Health Card and they may register you with a temporary SIP card which will put you into the system. You will also need to register a Spanish phone number with them so they can text or call you when they want you to attend.

How long are you staying in Altea. The vaccine in Spain is v e r r y s l o w' ...on over 80's still in some areas. Then frontline workers.

The staff in most health clinics either don't (or won't) speak English. A basic use of Spanish has always been required. You can sometimes get lucky though!

Hi Ingemar 23, do you have Spanish residency?

You can register for the temporary SIP card, required for the vaccine only, on line. I did it online and my wife and I got our temporary SIP numbers 2 days later via email or text message. I cant remember which it was.

Hi Ingemar23. I think it is highly unlikely as a non resident. I think you have to have residencia to register for the temporary SIP. I could be wrong and I'm sure someone will comment if I am.

Aren’t you better off having the vaccine in your country of residence, which I am presuming is Sweden? The way that the vaccine is slowly rolling out across Spain, it may well be quicker in Sweden - and less hassle in getting through the complicated logistics which you will encounter in Spain?

Sweden is in the EU. Once border restrictions are lifted EU residents can visit Spain and stay for 90 days before a technical requirement to register at a Policia Nacional Extranjeros office. Mostly, as was the case with the UK before Brexit, overstay by EU residents is not policed. As many of you may have noticed several overseas homeowners are simply driving in now.
Also, my understanding is that the Spanish government has declared their intention to vaccinate everyone in the country, including those in the country temporarily. Remember there are foreigners in Spain on work Visas, Student Visas and other categories who have leave to remain although not permanent residents.
So I think the question from Ingemar is a reasonable one, particularly since we don't know and don't need to know the purpose of her visit.
I think if correct ID is presented at the Centro Medico she will be issued a temporary SIP number for vaccination as long as a Spanish phone number is also supplied.

PS (If you want to retain a home country based mobile phone and don't want to go down the road of dual SIM, I'm told an Orange shop will sell you a primitive mobile for €15 and load it with €10 PAYG call time in the shop)
