Hi there

I have been offered a job in Altea and we are hoping to move over, from the UK in the summer. Having recently heard of the new rules stating  anyone traveling for tourism reasons from the UK to Spain, aged 12 and over must be fully vaccinated, I am unsure whether we can go ahead or not.

I do not want to get my 12 year old vaccinated as we still have no idea what long term affects vaccination might have. She is a girl and who knows whether it might affect fertility in the future?

As we will not be traveling for tourism reasons but instead, on a working visa with the intention to relocate, I do not know whether the new rules that all 12+ must be vaccinated, would apply to her.

Does anyone know the answer to this or have a contact they could pass on to me, who might know?

Thank you.

I appreciate some of you might have different views on vaccination to myself. I would appreciate it, if people do not share their opinions on vaccination with me, as we all have the right to make our own choices based on the limited information we have.

Thanks

Hi Rachel,

As you say that you'll be applying for a work visa, I think it would be best to raise your query with the Spanish Consulate closest to your current UK location, i.e. London, Manchester or Edinburgh, as that will also be where you will make your visa application:

Kind regards,

Kim

Thanks Kim. Problem is, it is impossible to speak to anyone in London consulate. I will try to email but not had any luck previously. You just get an automated reply

Hi Rachel,

Feedback from other members suggest that the Manchester Consulate is much more helpful, so you may stand a better chance of getting a response from them in the first instance.

Kind regards,

Kim

From Dec 1st. the rules say that children over 12 need to be fully vaccinated, in reality that will almost certainly mean without proof of vaccination they will be denied boarding an aircraft in UK.

I have read nothing which discriminates between 12+ year olds arriving as tourists or with the intent of relocating nor logically should there be.

I would say you have a difficult choice to make.

There are certain situations where a person  not vacccan enter the country.

The most common one being a Spanish resident doesn’t need to be vaccinated they can just take a test.

I’ve got a screenshot (below) of the current regulations, which links to the exceptions allowed, but I don’t think they include your situation.

But who knows how much these regulations could change.

Thank you for sending those links. It is a difficult situation. Perhaps it will change once things get under control in the UK. I guess I can only hope. I have until April before I would have to get all the papers into the consulate for the visa.

What a dilemma! We're in similar boat (although we don't live or work there) our 12 year old son hasn't had vaccine either, so we cant come to our house yet, we just have to hope things will be different come spring 🤷‍♂️
