Hi - Good afternoon.

I an and a few friends have moved from US to Altea this year.  While we do not have kids, we have found Altea to be incredibly welcoming and a lovely place to live.  I do not know anything about the schools however.  If you wish to PM me, please feel free to do so.

Regards

hey, thanks so much for your email! It is though however, very different with kids...., the life style is totally different...

Its all about schools school runs, after school extraescolares and needing friends for your child and yourself!

I live in Alfaz del Pi.Sierra Bernia school is just up the road from me,I live in the town centre.Telephone Duncan Allan, who started the school many years ago.He is very helpful as is Amanda, his wife who is/was our Mayor's PA.The Spanish state school here is very nice,my Spanish granddaughter went there. As you probably know,Alfaz has a large resident group from Norway & they have 3 state schools locally funded by their Government, which means lots of children in this town! I've been here for 30 odd years & it is a lovely town, the residential part is Alfaz & the more touristy bit is Albir where your neighbours may only be around for part of the year as there are so many holiday homes. The transport links are very good, pick up coach to Alicante airport, local regular bus route Benidorm-Altea, tram stop for Alicante-Denia. An excellent Sports centre as well.Hope this helps.

Gosh, I did not know about the Scandinavian schools.... what are they called?

What language do they teach in?

where would you say the livliest area is and are there any Facebook groups for mums with school age kids in the area do you know?

we love the city, valencia city and love the buzz and the green parks there!

I imagine that they  teach in Norwegian even though they all speak English! There is a helpful group in the town called "The Norwegian Club" of course. You can telephone on 965 888 186 or e-mail   [email protected]   I am an old fogey so can't help as regards Facebook. I used to travel up to Gandia a few years ago, went on the tram to Denia then the bus to Gandia so even if you haven't your own transport you could maybe take a day trip down to here & you could talk to other Mums(there's plenty of them, all nationalities) at the Spanish state school gate, right next to the Casa de Cultura(primary) or next to Consum is the secondary(colegio) school.
