As rdudden says Altea is busy in the summer. But many people love Altea so much it's why they don't want to be in Benidorm or Calpe !! And many people are actually prepared to pay more to live in such a beautiful unspoilt Spanish town.
So.......having got that out of the way.... yes, properties of the type you mention do exist although there are few that offer an easy walk to the Old Town. A lot of property in your target area never makes it to Rightmove and Zoopla etc.
If I was looking for that specific location and property I would visit the many estate agents in the town and give them a specific brief of what you're looking for. If you are serious about buying, get your NIE and bank account in place, and tell the agents that they are in place, something that gives them confidence that you're not just window shopping. Some agents you will never hear from but the good ones will look for your property and offer you properties to look at online (assuming you are in the UK).
Once you have a number of options to look at, plan a viewing trip and while on that trip keep your eyes peeled for other urbanisations and for sale signs.
Most of the urbanisation with pools are a long walk from the old town so you might end up having to compromise a bit. But there are several in the promenade area to the north before the Algar bridge for example, and to the south of the promenade on the Albir side. Either leave a fairly steep walk up to the Old Town but might be the compromise you end up making.
Good luck!
