Hi all,

I was recently diagnosed with vasculitis (ouch).  I have it under control now with NHS support but it has impacted on our plans to get the visa lucrativa as the medical care for year one would presumably be very expensive. Has anyone been in a similar position or know where I might find the best medical insurance or advice? Does anyone know if it’s a great deal more with a pre-existing condition?

Any advice gratefully received.

Thank you and hope you are all well.

Peter

Any private medical insurers is highly unlikely to cover any existing or prior medical condition, no matter how well controlled by medication.

Many people on this forum recommend Jennifer Cunningham insurances and there is also a firm called, I believe, Gran Alacant insurers, with a  well thought of agent called Alfonso. I am sure other people nearer the area will be able to give you more details.

Hi Rodge,

If you are applying for the non lucrative visa and you are receiving UK retirement pension you can apply for healthcare via the S1 healthcare scheme which is paid for by the UK government. It covers all pre existing issues.

There are also some exportable UK benefits which if you are receiving any listed you are also, possibly, entitled to the S1 healthcare cover.

If you are entitled to the S1 cover you won't need Private healthcare.
