Hola!  I am very pleased I found your Costa Blanca Forum!  I look forward to learning more about Altea and the other Costa Blanca towns.

My wife and I are a retired couple living in central Illinois - USA.  We have friends that recently relocated from France to Altea (near Pueblo Mascarat) and they love the area so much they suggested we come for a visit in 2020 and check out the area for a potential vacation home or maybe a permanent relocation in the future.  The weather, sea views and culture in Altea sound wonderful to us!

Initially I want to learn about the different neighborhoods in Altea.  We would be interested in renting an air conditioned apartment or house that has sea views, is within walking distance to restaurants and public transportation, is safe and fairly quiet late at night.  Any and all recommendations would be appreciated!

A warm welcome to the forum. . I hope your 2020 vacation goes to plan and you too find a place near your friends. Please bear in mind if you are visiting Spain in summer, it is very different to living in Spain in the winter.

Some years ago a retired uncle of mine living in Michigan came to check out about permanent living in Spain. After a few weeks he returned home saying the cost of living here is above his economic possibilities. In his area (Wyoming, MI) a house incl. plot costs around 65K, a similar home on a smaller plot is around 230K.
