Sorry if you feel like I was ganging up on you. I was trying to point out that most units sold come pre charged. You may not have known and that would save you getting an aircon engineer. Problem is not many, if any will charge a new unit that they have not fitted, becausecthey then become respon...

Thank you. We found the engineer.

If its brand new, why does it need regassing?

Try using an air conditioning engineer who has been trained to fit the units. If you are messing about with the gas you should have a C-gas certificate as it can be dangerous.

And any warranty will be null and void if the installation wasn’t carried out by a registered, competent a/c qualified person

A new aircon unit usually comes pre gassed.

pre-charged units are good for maybe 20ft, which isnt much, anything more and additional gas is needed.

I agree, but most units are fitted back to back, or pretty close to that. Some are fitted on the roofs some are fitted in flats and on the roof. Obviously there are always exceptions to the rule, but that doesn't alter the bit about new units being pre charged. The M.I's will tell you what distance they are pre-charged to.

An old post now, but i should share that it is illegal to have anyone in spain maintain/install etc an ac unit when it comes to the refrigerant. You must be licensed. Air conditioners use a refrigerant which does all the cooling and or heating in your home. To work with a refrigerant, you need a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning license, so no, you cannot regas your own aircon.

Maybe we should also point out it is the same in all countries. Same as natural gas and LPG. However it doesn't alter the original comment that aircon units are pre charged.

This was more to the original comments about people wanting to 'top up' their own ac units, not yours. Agree they are almost all precharged.
