We moved to Altea from the UK in March and have signed on the Padron, we would now like to apply for residencia in Altea , can anyone confirm if the correct office to apply is  OFICINA DE EXTRANJEROS DE ALTEAC/ San Isidro Labrador nº 1, with a completed EX18 form.

Many thanks

Jeff

I've just requested an appointment for a residencia and it seems that the options are only police stations - NOT the oficina de extranjeros in Altea?  Have things changed?  Thanks

Hi Min

To apply for residencia you either need to make an appointment at Benidorm police station or at  OFICINA DE EXTRANJEROS DE ALICANTE:

http://www.consultor.com/oue/

We had first made an appointment at Benidorm police station, and used the services of a Gestor through our solicitors, however a police woman with blond hair seemed to have a xenophobic issue and rejected our application requesting we present an health insurance that is not available. We then made an appointment at the main Alicante office above, presented the same documentation and had our residencia within 15 min.

I do advise using a gestor and parking at the Alicante office is very good.

I do hope this helps

I assume you're trying to do an appointment online(?). I said in my residency guide that:

For Alcoy, Altea and Teulada, I'm unable to find an online way of making an appointment. It therefore appears that you will have to make an initial visit to the office in question in order to make an appointment.

Thank you JimTaylor - sorry I hadn't seen your guide.  Very helpful - I'd prefer to go there in person in the first instance anyway.

Hello again - It seems things HAVE changed.

I went along to the Oficina de Extranjeros in Altea today 08.11.18 and was turned away.  This office is now only for NON EU citizens.  If you are a member of a country in the EU and several others (eg Norway I believe) then you have to make an appointment online which gives you choices of several police stations only.

Follow this link for an appointment

http://www.consultorga.com/data/seccion1/C-CUE.pdf

I would welcome feedback from anyone who has recently made the application, regarding what is deemed a sufficient amount in a Spanish bank account (or what monthly income) and what documents to support this are accepted.  Also, what documents to prove Spanish health insurance are acceptable.

Thank you

That's very useful information, and when I've time I'll update my guide accordingly - thank you.

The other information you want is contained in my guide but, as this is Spain, different offices use different criteria.
