Residencia problems
We seem to be having problems getting residencia. We retired early (at 62) and because we are not at state retirement age we are unable to have an S1 form from the NHS even though I have paid in over 45 years of N.I as there was a change of law in 2014 which only allows early retirees who are receiving benefits to have an S1 form so we need to have private insurance.
The problem we have found is that Benidorm police Station will not accept our insurance policy finding fault in the conditions that are the same in all the policies as no insurance company will insure a total cover until after a qualifying period. Therefore we have covered ourselves by ensuring we are covered by another policy which means we have to fly home every 90 days, but this policy covers for all possible incidents. However Benidorm Police still will not accept this. (The qualifying period refer to cancer or transplant treatment).
We are using a gestor through our abogados who are as shocked as us that the police are being so stubborn. We have enough money not to be a burden to the Spanish state, we have private pension that pay us well above the financial condition of residencia until our state pension kicks in, our own fully paid for property in Spain.
Has anyone else experienced this or does anyone know of a health policy insurance company that has no qualifying period. Our insurance company has stated they are wrong and provided a certificate to prove our cover is compliant and the police will still not accept this.
Can anyone help
