Hi, I have been advised by my solicitor that to change the name from previous owner of my property to my own will incur a €400 charge plus €100 professional fee.

This seems high and wonder if it possible to simply change water provider or simply attempt to deal with the water company directly.

I welcome advise and experience from yourselves., thanks.

It does sound ridiculously expensive. I suggest you contact Acuamed direct and ask them what they need. It may be as simple as providing them with a copy of your escritura, or they might want a habitation caertificate:

I have emailed the company and hopefully get a helpful response.

Many thanks for your reply.

Hi, Jim might be right about the habitation certificate as we had this problem and had to have an architect draw up new plans in order to get a new certificate and it cost 500 euros altogether, but it was that or no water!
