Unless I,m mistaken, I,m not so sure that it is a good thing as it states you will still probably need a certificate showing recovery from virus in last 180days or a negative diagnostic test done in previous 24hrs. So we go from free NHS covid certificate downloaded, to paying again for a test at the last minute. Not good.

I agree Pauline

If this move is meant to encourage tourists then implementing a 24hr payable Covid test will deter many.

See attached article from the BBC today - the testing option to get entry is for non-vaccinated travellers, to allow them entry into Spain which they cannot do at present. The fully vaccinated still get entry by showing their covid vaccination certificate, no test required.

Rgds,

So as a twice vaccinated (in May & June 2021) Resident of Spain returning from the UK, do I still need to get the booster (or take a test) to be allowed back into Spain? Assume so, but would be good to have that confirmed as reluctant to do so if no longer required. Also does anyone have experience of travelling RyanAir back to Spain recently and if so are they still refusing boarding to anyone who has not got booster (or test) when checking vaccine certificates?  Thx for any advice or links, AN

The info below taken is on the Spanish Health website:

------------------------

All passengers arriving in Spain by air (except children under 12 years of age and those in international transit), regardless of the country of origin, including Spaniards returning to their home, must have one of these documents:

  • DIGITAL COVID CERTIFICATE OR EU EQUIVALENT  vaccination against COVID-19 or a negative certificate of an active infection diagnostic test or a certificate of recovery after passing the disease. You can check if your certificate is valid on the website   https://spth.gob.es or in the Spain Travel Health app -SpTH-

-------------------

Looks like you will need a negative test to gain entry if you have not had a booster jab. If you have time the best option may be to have a covid booster jab in the UK.

Aitch.

Agree, I've got one booked for tomorrow as can't afford to take the risk of being refused entry or boarding onto flight, so lamb to the slaughter off we go...!  Shame Spain hasn't just done what Greece did a month ago and so many other countries too by now, but I do understand that they're simply protecting their residents and as one myself, I must and will comply.

Call me stupid, wrong or cynical, but I do not see specifically and unequivocally stated on the spanish gov website that the new measures apply to TOURISTS, who are considered those individuals with no permanent residency in Spain even though they may own a house there.

This "all passengers arriving in Spain" and "must have either a certificate or a diagnostic test certificate (...)" sound generic to me as it does not say whether it applies to individuals who are not vaccinated and travel to Spain for tourism from a third country (such as the UK) .

On every other website  - including that of the UK Gov (which I distrust)  - tourists are mentioned as benefiting of the new more open requirements.   But where does the truth lie ?

Hi,

I think you have to read the rules and guidelines, read the experiences of others and then make your own judgement.

Certainly as a non-resident UK visitor who is fully vaccinated I found that travelling to/from Spain more or less normal now, nearly back to pre-covid days.

So I would say that I am benefitting from the more open requirements.

Rgds,

Aitch.
