Hi there. Our home insurance is up for renewal. We are currently with Liberty Seguros and we were considering changing to possibly a cheaper one seeing it is only a holiday home. We have been quoted 280.00 Euros for the year. Is this a fair price for the area? Does anyone else know of competitive English speaking insurers in the Pego area? We have been with Liberty now for a number of years. Thanks very much. Walter

Again: check out on the smallprint, what is covered and which are the exclusions (usually a lot). One of the traps being max. number of days wihtout anyone inside the home, number and types of locks fitted to the main entrance door and many more. Let Alfonso work it all out for you.

Don’t forget to give a good one months notice cancellation notice to your insurer.

Hi Walter
We were with Liberty Seguros and each year, they kept sneaking a bit extra on it. We are now with Linea Directa and each year the price goes down. They speak English and will beat other companies and always ask them for extra discount on their final price.

What you also have to bear in mind is the calibre of service. Liberty have been extremely efficient and we have claimed several times on both house and vehicle policies. No quibbles over claims. Very small price increase in premium as a result. And they were very helpful over a claim for my mother’s house, a major water leak, whilst she was in hospital and unable to deal with anything.
