Hi Everyone I write this post with a tint of sadness.

I am coming over in July/ Aug for 5 weeks with children 12 and 10. Normally my husband would be with us but sadly died last Oct.

So looking for places to take the kids and possibly places to mingle with adults and meet new people. I have already planned on horse riding, swimming and karting. I know the fiesta is in in Aug so will be going there too

Thanks in advance

Jools

Hi Jools,

I’m sure you and the children should have a great summer holiday.   The blue sky most days and ability to plan outdoor activities is a wonderful part of the Spanish summer.
It might seem hard to believe but July /Aug is so so hot that a lot of time will be spend avoiding the sun.  😎   Over 30 degrees several days and not feeling much less at night.  Just something to keep in mind.

Having access to a swimming pool or half days at the beach will be most welcome.  At that time of year feet will burn on bare sand or concrete near pools so bring different sandals/footwear for all occasions.   Good books to read in shade.

Hopefully people from that area will have ideas for local entertainment.
Kind regards

Maria

Thanks Maria

Thanks for the reply

I have owned my property for 4 years now but never really ventured anywhere without my husband ( not afraid to though).

I agree July/Aug can be scorching but have to come out in school holidays.

Hopefully as you say someone with local knowledge could guide me but really

appreciate your reply

Regards

Julie

Hi Julie,

Going to your familiar home will make planning somewhat easier than just arriving at  a strange place.

You are both wise and brave to plan ahead to continue making happy childhood memories with your children despite your sad loss.
As other families post here about upcoming holidays, you will get some more info.

Best wishes

Maria 😊 x

Hi Jools,

Really sorry for your loss. You don't say how old your children are but I took a look at Tripadvisor for the surrounding area, have a look at this link, https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Attractions-g1064238-Activities-zft11306-Pinoso_Province_of_Alicante_Valencian_Country.html

A 40 km drive gets you to many places, nearer to home for some hikes Sierra Del Carche, though in high August it will be hot even at height. Some fabulous beaches within 40 minutes as well, and if you want to a huge shopping centre at Zenia Boulevard. Murcia is a great city, plenty of squares and history, again it will be warm but worth a trip.

Hope you have a fabulous time

Mark
