Hi everyone

My dog has a perio/dental Fistula. I'd very much appreciate any advice people are able to give me on this subject. It's given me sleepless. Be doesn't appear I'll at present.

Thanks Julie

Hi Julie,

Our first dog had a periodontal fistula when he was 13 years old.  Has your vet diagosed the condition?  If so, what treatment are they recommending?

Kind regards,

Kim

Hi Kim

Thanks very much for your reply and I'm sorry it's taken me so long to acknowledge it. Back it cold dank UK now. The previous owner took him to the vet who diagnosed it and I took him to our regular vet who did the same. He has to have his teeth removed and the hole in his gum repaired. His going to a specialist centre for the operation on 14/1. What happened to your dog? I hope your well.

Best wishes

Julie

Hi Julie,

No problem, we´ve had a couple of weeks back in the UK ourselves in November and it was dank then too!  Good to see my Dad and family, but glad to be back in sunny Spain.

The fistula ended up being the least of our problems - an infection in the gum below the tooth found it´s way to Toby´s heart and we almost lost him at age 13.  Fortunately, we had a very good vet, who saved Toby and he went on to live to the ripe old age of 17.  Now, whenever we take Eddie to the vet here in Spain for his annual boosters, we always ask them to check his teeth.

Good to hear that you´ve had confirmation of the original diagnosis.

Kind regards,

Kim
