Good afternoon All,

I have just received my non resident tax return and the amount due is 19 euros each (two names on the deeds) which seems very fair, but the solicitors want 450 euros + IVA (21%) to undertake the return for me.

Can anyone advise on a cheaper way of filing my return or know a solicitors who are a lot cheaper

Best regards

If you've got the return ready for payment, and you're out here before the end of the year, just take it into a bank and they should do it.

Since 2011, you've also been able to make the payment from a foreign bank. Details on how to do so are on AEAT's website.

Hi Jim

Unfortunately I haven’t. I contacted the solicitor who has it but he won’t release it unti I’ve paid his fee

I am unsure how you go about getting how much I owe so that’s why I went to my brief to sort

In that case I'm afraid I can't help.

The amount the solicitor is asking is ludicrous, unless the fee includes other services he's performed. And as an aside, the tax due seems on the low side.

The cheapest way I've come across of doing a 210 is http://spanishtaxforms.co.uk/.

They charge £29.95 for preparing the return, plus extra if you want them to submit it.

I can endorse what Jim has said and I can thoroughly recommend Spanish Tax forms, John who I’ve dealt with is very helpful and very efficient. All done by email and you don’t pay up front. I doubt you’ll find it cheaper than £29.95 and that’s per property not per person 😊

I would check the actual tax you have been charged

That is not right

It is based on your suma bill which is a kind of house tax(council tax)

A solicitor will work out what is due from how much your suma bill is each year

Non-resident tax is around €200 per annum

If you do not pay the right amount it is deducted from sell of property when sold

So its worth sorting and paying correct amount

Poppydom..the Non Resident Tax is calculated on the Cadastral value that is shown on your Suma Bill and I can assure you my Non Resident Tax is nowhere near €200 per annum.

Hi

It’s my solicitor who is dealing with it

The same one who sorted my house purchase and set up my direct debits for SUMA etc

Our property is only small poppydom, so our Non Resident Tax (Modelo 210) is less than €100. Each persons Cadastral Value will be different as it is similar to the UK rateable value.
