In just over a week I will be 66,and the English government should pay my health care! What do I have to do to implement this? Take my SIP card to the health center or something else to do with applying on the internet, or nothing at all?

Happy Birthday

Not sure what state pension age is anymore as we are now in the transition period for people aged between 60-67.

If you have reached state pension age you ring the DWP and ask them to issue you with an S1 form.

You should have the telephone number on the information they will have sent you regarding your pension.

Once you’ve got the S1 you register it with INSS to receive your SIP card.

What’s confusing is you say you already have a SIP card, if you’ve already been paying in to the Spanish Health System to receive a SIP card then  the system of registration may well be different. So you will need to contact INSS. However you will still need your S1, which in basic terms transfers you from the NHS to the SHS.

Hi Biff,

With effect from January 2020, the Overseas Healthcare team transitioned from the DWP to the NHS Business Services Authority - you now need to email: [email protected], or call: +44 (0)191 218 1999.

Detailed information is available on Gov.UK:

Kind regards,

Kim
