Thanks for the recommendation, Steeve, and the reminder.  It still surprises me how many non-resi property owners in Spain don't know about non-resident tax.  I can understand why estate agents don't flag it up during the buying process, but you'd think a buyer's lawyer would make them aware of it.

Hi, that's ok Kimmy. Yes its easy to overlook as there is so much going on the day of the purchase, maybe the lawyer mentioned it i honesty cant recall. Whereas in the UK its normally done over a 3 month period. In Spain i had it all done in 1 day which is good but sometimes you can miss something. Plus your buzzing too.

I can totally recommend Andy as well. Fast, efficient and reasonably priced. I believe that non payment of non resident taxes is one of the principal reasons for non resident bank accounts being embargoed. Definitely not something that anyone would want to happen as it must result in mega hassle!

But if you haven't submitted a tax return before, I'd recommend reading the other 4 guides on the subject as well - use the link at the top.of the page to "Jim's Guides".

Sometimes, the lawyer acting for your purchase will do your Non-resident tax return, but you'd know about it because their fee is often more expensive than the tax itself!

I've not been very active on the forums lately but thought it necessary to also reiterate to everyone about Angar Taxation Service.

Not long before Christmas and as stupid as it may seem I wasn't aware about non-residents tax............think I just thought it was in relation to  people who owned second homes and were renting them out.

Anyway after contacting Andy he swiftly sorted out all the returns at the turn of the new year and I am now totally up to date.
