I am looking at changing my bank from Banco Sabadell. They charge me 160 for a current  account. The service is poor. Can anyone recommend one that is easy to change my direct debit payments? Thank you.

Has to be ‘wise’ formally transferwise. You get a uk account number and a euro account number on the same account. Easy to transfer funds from £’s to €’s and back again at probably the best transfer rates about. The euro account is based in Belgium so your IBAN number is excepted in Spain to pay direct debits. I used it pay my electricity, water, house / car insurance and SUMA. I also use for all contactless payments. You can withdraw cash with it but you are restricted to €200 / month, I don’t use much cash these days as contactless is so easy so this is not an issue for me.

Hi Ken,

I'd also recommend Wise:

Hi

Just to clarify, you are not limited to 200 per month, but if you exceed 200 there are charges.

Cheers

Steve

All Spanish banks charge for a non resident acc-open an on-line account with Wise-free direct debits & no fees!!!!

Yes I am definitely going to set up a Wise money transfer account when I go back to the UK. I would like to know more about transferring my Direct Debit payments to Wise also.  Thanks

I'm in the process of changing my direct debits from Sabadell to Revolut. You have to do it yourself.  It's not difficult once you get started on it although I notice that some companies are slower than others.  The last straw for me with Sabadell was 55euro for last quarters fees.
