Last time I was at my Spanish house I bought a second hand PC which is functional but lacks Microsoft Office, which I would like to have on there. I have a licensed version of Microsoft Office 2013 for Students and Home on my PC here in England but I found out that I could not install this on the second machine, in Spain.

I'm heading for the airport in the morning (fingers crossed) for an extended stay and wondered if anyone knew any local supplier of computer hardware and software (not the big boys, something local) who might be able to sell me even a cut down version of MS Office at a reasonable price? I only really need Word and Excel for personal use. My days of Powerpoint presentations are behind me.

Grateful if any one could give any pointers - ideally it would be a business not too far from me (La Siesta, near Torrevieja).

Thanks for that but will it read existing Word and Excel files? That is the important bit!

Hi Michael,

I have MS Office on my laptop and Libre on my desktop, and have no problem opening Word and Excel docs on my desktop.

Thanks Kim. Just arrived ALC so will definitely try it later on today. Free software without catches? I am always suspicious of “something for nothing “🙂

Hi Michael,

I've never experienced any problems with it - occasionally a little slow doing the conversion if it's a large workbook, but I think that's more to do with my (should be obsolete) desktop! 😄
