Hi everyone

Looking for advice as to what area is best suited to myself to purchase holiday home.

My budget will be approx. £80,000. My preference would be 2 bedroom accommodation and some outdoor space to relax in the sunshine. I like the the ex/pat atmosphere. I need to be within walking distance (30 minutes max) to all the bars, restaurants, shops, nightlife etc. Myself and my wife are in our fifties but my grown up children and grandchildren would also be holidaying at the accommodation. In the past some people have suggested Villamartin or torrevieja  but when I have looked into these areas some parts look very far out and don't seem suitable for myself.

I welcome any suggested areas and also areas to dismiss that don't meet my requirements, also any advice on best websites to look for property would be much appreciated.

Thanking you in advance

Cheryl

Are you looking to be beach-side of the N332 and does your budget include the approx 13 % buying costs? Will you be hiring a car for visits or relying on public transport and would you be wanting a communal pool? As you have probably found, the closer you get to the beach the less you will get for your money.

Hi Cheryl

Don't really understand comment N332.

£80,000 budget is for property only, unlikely I would be hiring car.

I wish to be able to walk to beach area within 30 minutes or so but not a deal breaker if I cant. Need to be within walking distance to bars, restaurants, nightlife etc

Thanks

N332 is the road that runs through the middle of Torrev

I would suggest looking around the Playa Flamenca and La Zenia areas.

Hi Aldo, please bear in mind that you will pay approx 13% on top of your purchase price in taxes, so an €80,000 property will cost €90,400.

If you are looking to spend no more than €80,000 in total, then you will be looking at a purchase price of just under €71,000

One piece of advice we were given is to try and get a property close to facilities like a medical centre, shops, etc as there may come a time when you can't or don't wish to drive.

You will definitely get more bang for your buck if you go further inland.

El Chapparal, which includes my urbanisation La Siesta, seems to have it all for me.  Good quality houses and flats, plenty of shops and eateries/bars on site, a water park, bowling club etc etc.  Bus service G regularly goes through giving you a twenty minute ride into Torrevieja.  There is a medical centre on site as well.

At the beginning of last year we got a two bed, two bath house with patio, balcony and roof terrace for less than you have to spend right now and there are always good places to find around us.  The beaches of La Mata are 15 minutes by bike across the parque natural (30 to 40 minute walk) taking you past the blue lagoon with its abundant birdlife.

As everyone will tell you, if you want a sea view and a five minute walk to the beach expect to pay big money for it.  From my roof terrace I have lovely views of both blue and pink lagoons as well as a view of the sea (only just, but it's there!).  Happy enough being about three miles outside of Torrevieja.
