Anyone who owns property in Spain has to pay IBI, every year, first time the year after you bought the property. This is your responsibility to do. You will not be reminded, but may be penalised if you fail to do so. This could happen several years after the fact.

IBI regarding fiscal year 2019 is due no later than November 6th 2020

Anyone who owns property in Spain have to pay IBI ( property tax), regardless of recidencia status. If you bought your property in 2019, your tax is due now.

In Torrevieja IBI is collected by SUMA.

You can find information on what you need to know and do here:

https://www.suma.es/

If you need to contact SUMA for copy of bills or any other information you can do that here:

This is a webform. You are asked about what language you prefer.

For information on when different taxes are due, see here:

https://www.suma.es/calendario-del-contribuyente

Paying tax is your responsibility. I recommend you check (get a copy of documents) from your solicitor, tax-representative or tax-company or whoever you may have engaged to do your taxes for you. In my experience, I am sad to say, one can not trust that this is actually done, no matter what is said. Documents are therefore essential.

You can get most of the tax information in english. Some web-browsers translate spanish websites automatically to the language of your choice. Chrome browser is one of those. You set your preferences in your browser settings. Always be aware of privacy rules on websites.
