Easyjet has repositioned its British fleet to bring Germans down to the Costa Blanca according to Simon Calder in the Independent.

As mainland Europeans flood into Spain for their holidays, British home owners and holidaymakers that want to come to Spain are being told no.

Is the true agenda that the British government really just wants you to spend your cash in the UK?

Steve

Yep, i know of a few families who are not going to spain, purely because the testing alone will cost more than their flights, plus the 10 days quarantine, they just can't do it, disgrace

Absolutely, Steve.  The Bank of England has estimated that Brits have accumulated savings during the last 14 months that run into the billions - BoJo wants it spent in the UK, not overseas.  I think that´s the motive behind the prohibitive cost of testing too, but the UK Government can appear to be at arm´s length from costs dictated by commercial enterprises.  Some members have reported that the price of testing is coming down, but it´s still a significant additional cost on a holiday for a family of 4.

So true kim, they are trying to put the fear of God up everyone, saying there will be a knock at your door when you are quarantining, fines will be in the hundreds, etc. And people are really worried that might happen.. but he wants everyone to go to for example, Cornwall, where it will be absolutely heaving... it was easier to go away last year !!

Ok, the cheapest cost for us ( family of four) to go to our house this year.. 4 antigen test's in spain to come back home 40€ each, four, day 2 and 8 pcr tests £86 each = £500 ( roughly), another 10 days of us not working, equals a lot of money ! ,is it worth us coming ?? Probably not, so bojo has won, but i will not be holidaying in the UK thats for sure, sometimes it's not about the money but the principle !!!

Given the Delta variant in the UK, Spain might find it necessary, reluctantly, to re-impose travel restrictions for Brits.

The UK government and the devolved governments in NI, Scotland and Wales all have the same policy on overseas travel, that is to advise against it and impose testing requirements for those who do travel. You either have to accept the cost of doing it or stay in the UK. I know it is popular to make Boris the villain but in this case Boris, Mark, Nicola and Arlene are, unusually, all in sync.

The UK has spent billions supporting working people in furlough schemes, billions supporting small businesses with interest free loans, billions supporting the covid vaccination program, billions treating covid cases, is it unreasonable to expect that UK citizens should perhaps spend some of their money they have saved during the last 15 months in the UK? Remember that the money that the UK has spent is our money, the taxpayer, at some stage that has to be paid for, most likely in increased taxation. Better to minimise that amount as much as possible.

A lot of countries are after the UK tourist pounds, hence the Spanish, Portuguese and French governments welcoming UK tourists even though they bring the threat of passing on the delta variant. So I believe the UK are trying to keep people in the UK this summer as much as other countries are trying to tempt them abroad.

Aitch.

absolutely right billions been paid out by the government to support the people in the UK.

So why not stay at home this year and pay a little back.

Minimise travel minimise the risk I firmly believe in no travel unless it’s absolutely essential.

Kind regards
