Hi everybody.

Having not travelled to Alicante Airport since the Pandemic, just wondered if there are any major changes to parking and passenger collections.  Seem to remember there were plans to change approaches by road and possible terminal changes as well.  Did they ever take place, any tips would be gratefully appreciated!

I was there yesterday, and several times in the last six months. There are no major changes that I can see, other than the roundabout and road immediately outside having had a bit of a spuce up and better signage, so there's no doubt now which direction to take on exiting the airport if you're going to Benidorm, Valencia, Elche, etc. The free period in the express drop off and pick up has been reduced from 15 minutes to 10 minutes, that's all.

Yes there have been major changes.
You are fine travelling all the way through to the tunnel as there’s been no changes there ( apart from the slip roads to get to Gran Alacant)

The approach road has changed beyond recognition, yes they finally got it finished! and if you park your car at the long stay car parks, you have to approach them from a different way as there are no direct turns off the road into the car parks. You have to cross lanes for the airport turning, so beware of traffic on your right.

If you are going into departures, you still get 10 minutes free parking, that was changed well before covid. But they have changed the fishtail parking so it’s the opposite way around. You now have to reverse into your parking space.

Even the  coffee  shop is no longer Costa coffee - it’s changed hands.

Once you get into the airport - again major changes, there’s lots more retail and places to eat.

2 replies to my Airport query, and they virtually contradict each other! ( And where is this TUNNEL?) Don’t ever remember one of those except outside Alicante!

Tunnel is the greyed out section - where the marker is.

My comments refer to the changes which were initially started when they knocked down the petrol station and blocked access to the waste land the section where people waited for the phone call when waiting for arriving passengers.

The new road layout was eventually completed shortly after lockdown  resulting in a complete new layout when approaching the airport.  You used to be able to turn directly into the park and ride car parks, but since the road layout changed you now have an extra 5 minutes on your journey to locate the car park entrances.

The road from the airport to Santa Pola is virtually unchanged    - except as I mentioned the car park entrances have moved (Victoria etc)
