Without trying to upset you it sounds like you've been conned. If you're renting a car in spain never tranfer money directly into someones account especially an English one. 

I agree, Martyn.  I sent a PM to Dwayne, but he hasn´t read it.  I thought I´d share it here in case anyone else is planning to hire from Mark Morris (or Phil Parkinson) via their Facebook ads:

"Hi Dwayne,

"Would this be the same Mark Morris who advertises car hire on Facebook, phone number 634 385 453?  There´s something very odd about his posts - there are no reviews of his business, although he doesn't seem to have started advertising until 20 July this year, and the only "Like" is from another car hire company, Phil Parkinson of Best Rentals, who doesn't seem to have started advertising until 3 August this year.  The only feedback on Phil Parkinson is from a lady, Dawn Louise, who paid a £200 deposit, but had no further contact and no car.  She says she's reported it to the police in both Spain and UK.  It may be one and the same person, or perhaps Mark Morris and Phil Parkinson are in on it together?  I really hope I'm wrong, but the ads look fishy to me (why are the prices in Dollars, not Pounds or Euros?)  I'll keep looking and see if I can turn up anything else.

It would be good if Dwayne could confirm whether the phone number I´ve quoted above is the same as the one he has for the Mark Morris he believe he´s hired from.

Just jumping to conclusions, but the Profile Pic of Mark Morris looks highly suspect to me.

But look at his, and his "chum" Phil Parkinson's long lists of Facebook Friends.  Hundreds of them, from all corners of the earth except either UK or Spain.  It screams Fake I'm afraid.  Even the company logos are pinched from the Internet.

To me this unfortunate situation goes to show that if you buy cheap you always buy twice. Private hire is fine if you know the people personally otherwise just rent through a well known company, that way you're atleast covered 

Dwayne's replied to my PM and confirmed that it is the same Mark Morris.  I think "Mark" (or is it "Phil"?) is taking advantage of the known shortage and high prices of hire cars in Spain this year.  I'll call him a conman because what I really think of him isn't polite 😡

Dwayne, unfortunately I am in exactly the same position.  I tried to book car hire through Mark Morris last summer and paid him £200 deposit in July for car hire in August.  It was him who approached me as I was struggling to find car hire at a reasonable price. The day before we were due to pick up the car he told me his wife was seriously ill with Covid and I was then fobbed up for several weeks with promises of a refund. He then suddenly deleted his FB page and stopped responding to my messages. I tried for so long to give him the benefit of the doubt but it does look now as though it was all a big con.

Although it's a horrible thing to happen, there's an old saying "buy cheap, buy twice". Its always best to book through the bigger well known agencies, 200euro extra is the 200euro thats been lost.
