Surely common sense and logic dictate that UK must extend the transition period, this is no time for pigheaddedness and hubris.

Boris is gambling everything on a deal with the US which, with what's going on over there, is looking more improbable by the day.

RayD I think he did when the French commandeered two truck loads of medical supplies bound for the UK. Just saying.

RayD. I have no idea, I'm not in Downing Street. I was replying to the suggestion that Boris would surely get Trump's message. A message apparently replicated by Macron. If my memory serves me well it was two truck loads in transit from Chinese suppliers that were requisitioned. The information released by the UK press recently was that Public Health England insisted that equipping everyone with masks would not halt the spread of covid19. Maybe that's why he didn't ramp up supplies of masks?

RayD I've no doubt that the French will make it as hard as possible at the border as they have been prone to do in the past. However there are a hell of a lot of EU goods going the other way for them to risk a tit for tat battle.

I don't think anyone in power in the UK is thinking about delaying Brexit. The humanitarian & financial situation we Europeans now face because of Covid-19 will make Brexit almost irrelevant whether there is a deal or move to WTO.

Who knows how deep and damaging the recession caused by this virus will be but it is going to hurt us all in one way or another. Cancelling Brexit won't change that.

Hi Lancelot,

This petition isn't about "cancelling Brexit"; it's about extending the transition period, to enable our respective parliaments to give the necessary focus that corona virus needs now, and then allow a sensible continuation of time to negotiate the Brexit trade deal.

Kind regards,

Kim

Hi Kimmy

I know people will come down one side or the other on this, I guess all I am saying is that corona virus is real and has already caused physical and economic damage on a large scale. I suspect that it might be politically expedient for the UK to leave the EU with or without a deal at the end of the year as is it enshrined in UK law. If coronavirus is the ice cream sundae, brexit is the small cherry on top and is now almost inconsequential by comparison.

Just my view but one I think is, perhaps, current UK govt policy.
