Hey everyone

My wife and I are considering relocating to Denia.  We are currently living in Barcelona but we have grown a little tired of the city.  We are in our early forties, no kids, and work fully remotely.

I gather that there is a sizeable expat community of retirees, but could you advise if there is reasonably large community of expats within our age range?

Thanks so much!

I don't think there are too many British people your age living in Denia. After Barcelona you might take badly with it in comparison to Barcelona. But there's a very vibrant Spanish crowd your age in Denia, so if you were prepared to integrate with them and speak a bit of the language that could work.

Denia is very up and coming and the pace/quality of life is great, as you probably know.

I would suggest that you keep an eye on the Citizens Advice Bureau Spain website for the rules and regulations that will come into force in January for any Brits re-locating as they will be classed as non-EU, and also bear in mind that there are not many jobs around.

They would appear to be living in Barcelona and working remotely (via computer), so I would imagine they are already Resident, just considering a relocation within Spain.

Thank you for that.   I had a 'senior' moment.

Easily done. I'm not immune in that department!

I like dania very much, its and historic an full of beach but for living i would suggest just a lil further down a placed called javia/Xavier. Its full of expats of all ages, it hasnt got the madness of benidorm but it has still got a good nightlife area and loads of local bars, its also very safe and clean.

Thanks everyone.  To clarify:  We already have legal Spanish residency, and already hold stable full time jobs that we can do remotely.

@martyn1986 I understand from your comment that you believe there would be more expats (no necessarily British) in our age range in Javea than in Denia?  What's everyone else's take on this?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Definitely more 'expats' of all nationalities in Javea by some distance. More British of all ages too. If this is the criteria for a decision, it's Javea you want.

Hi Denia is quietly upmarket and the best place to be along that part of the coast.
