Anybody know what it is like at Alicante Airport border control regarding arriving from England to sell a property here. Are border controls strict. I have sold but don't know the notary signing dates yet. I am allowed to travel from UK as it is classed as essential travel but not sure what the border controls are like.

Hello

Currently you can only enter Spain as a resident with residencia or proof of application or holder of a Spanish passport....Some very  exceptional circumstances may apply but I doubt that house sale is one) Other members who have been turned away & sent back to UK on same plane will tell you that border control are very strict and complying with the  rules.

Keep checking the spanish government updates as things could change around May 9th when the state of alarm is due to end..

Cheers

Suggest you give power of attorney to someone here. The agent handling the sale, or a lawyer, or a friend.

We arrived at Alicante Airport five weeks ago from Manchester Airport where we were told that there are currently only four reasons for flying to Spain:

1. Being a Spanish Resident.

2. Applying for Spanish Residency

3. In the process of selling your Spanish property.

4. Evidence that you have an offer of employment in Spain.

We had both had our first Covid injections and did not have any Covid test at Manchester Airport but when we arrived at Alicante Airport we were singled out and given a Covid test (swab up the nostril)  and had to wait 15 minutes for the results which fortunately were both negative. There was no charge for this test. Staff and doctors were very polite.

Thanks for your reply. I feel so much better to hear your arrival at Alicante airport was ok. Been so worried that come 17th May the border control will not let us in!! We have now arranged a POA just in case & booked covid test 72 hours before which is so expensive. Really sad that all this covid has caused such a lot of problems for everyone all over the world. Really glad you replied with positive news as the other message received was not so positive. Kris
