I usually use the Consum for my shopping when I come over however with everything going up I’m considering using the new Aldis. Are they much cheaper than other supermarkets as they are in the UK. Any comments would be welcome.
Cheers

In my opinion Consum is the most expensive of all the supermarkets, so the answer is most definitely yes.
Aldi in Spain is completely different to Aldi in the U.K..
The Spanish shops are operated by Aldi North and the U.K. shops by Aldi South. Thanks to the family feud they stock slightly different items. But don’t worry the middle aisle is still there to tempt you.

Lidl is also a good option, and Alcampo was awarded "cheapest supersroe" by the local consumer assn. in Murcia. So look around and take your time. Spain is different and that includes consumer behavior and shopping habits. You will like Iceland in Torrevieja and San Javier..
There is no black and white answer to the question.
In UK you have the giant super markets where you can do one stop shopping, they do not really exist around here (Carrefour come closest but still not of the same scale and one of the most expensive) so if you're cost conscious then you have to shop around to get the best price for what you want.
I routinely flit between Aldi/Lidl/Mercadona/Hiperber/Super Dumbo and occasionally Consum and Tesco/Iceland.
I often take photos of prices in order to be able to make comparisons and decide where to buy.

Hi Darro, seeing that you a master at shopping around why don't you do comparison shop in all the supermarkets you have mentioned and put the results on here. I often see basket prices for UK supermarkets for the UK but never here.
I shop between Consum in Sax and Lidl in Elda but that is because of what I can get where rather than the prices. I think the tools are very good in Lidl, I've never had one fail yet. A price comparison chart would be good.

Aldi is definitely cheaper than Consum and has a bigger variety of everything, including fresh fruit and veg…better quality, as well.

I shall go and explore Aldi, I have never shopped there. There are two that are quite close. I have noticed that Consum veg leaves a bit to be desired.

I find consum veg and fruit very expensive, a lot more expensive than ireland
I use Aldi,Lidl and Mercadona for different things. If I had to choose one only it would be Mercadona.Their quality for fresh fish, meat, fruit and veg is really good and their prices are mostly similar to Aldi and Lidl. They don’t do the middle aisle though.

Its also low quality I find. Mercadona and spar do really good quality at good prices. Add fuel prices in your you're travel between stops because it can work out cheaper to just pay a few cents more than travel between shops
