Hello my husband and I are looking to move over to Spain with our 2 children 10yrs and 1yr, we like the look and sound of aspe and was wondering about schools in the area if anyone could share some info that would be amazing. Thanks

Hello

Do your homework and travel around the area!  Aspe is the back of beyond in terms of civilisation - been there, seen that.  Very many people only speak Valenciano, not true Spanish.

Go nearer the coast, Crevillent, Albatera, where there are good Spanish/English  schools are available with a short train/bus ride.  Otherwise your children will hate you!

Hi Richard

Whilst I agree with some of your comments I am a little upset at your generalisation of Aspe, but respect your opinion of course.

I live beyond Aspe in a tiny little Spanish village and it is lovely. Back end of beyond it isn't, out of the way it is! Personally, I did not like Crevillente, perhaps I only saw the built-up/industrial side of the area?

I found that moving away from the coast I can get more value for my money and I am further away from the 2€ breakfasts and the likes of Horrorvieja (which actually has a lovely promenade - sea view side!) I also wanted to live in Spain, not Little Britain!

ALL that said, looking at the age of the OP's children, the 10yo will struggle being thrown in to complete Spanish, or as Richard rightly points out Valencian. As for the other two, they will not know any difference and will simply become multilingual. My daughter is tri-lingual. Arrived when she was 2.5yo and picked it up in no time.

So back to the OP's point. I have heard of Brits moving to Aspe as it is a halfway house and provides most needs. I can personally recommend that you contact Lydia at Carousel Homes (http://carouselhomesspain.com/) who operates in that very area. She will offer you friendly advice and location information, such as schools etc.

Hope it helps

I concur, & my partner, (six sisters) from Aspe find "Back end of beyond" amusing.

They are going to inquire, but can´t think of anyone (at the moment) who only speaks Valencian as a sole language.
