I've seen the announcement on El País. it only says from UK. The original post implied that it is a total ban. 

Perhaps I should have been more specific but as it's a UK forum I thought people might realise I meant UK citizens. 

Apologies to all readers of other nationalities for any confusion....

I expect any nationality on what would have been a flight from UK would be barred from entering.

UK nationals may enter the countries concerned if flying from a non UK airport etc seems logical

Yes it’s spain doing what spain does best.

Think of the most stupid course of action, compound it with stupid amendments and cause stress, heart ache and financial losses to all but a few.

Why insist on a pcr test, and then ignore the result and ban people from coming to Spain..

Anyone who has taken this test and returned a negative result doesn’t have Covid....

I think it's because it's a new strain.  The assumption by the virologists is that the testing - and the vaccine - will be effective against the new strain, but the rest of Europe don't seem willing to take that chance, especially when rates of infection are already increasing here and in other mainland countries anyway.

I think it’s rediculous, the spanish govt are allowing Spanish nationals and residents to fly into Spain from the uk , on the very same plane any uk resident would have been on but for the ban. How do they know the spanish nationals/residents haven’t got the new strain?
