I had my SIP card stolen with my wife,s and with my Wallet. The health centre replaced my card no problem, asked me if my wife spent any time In the UK. I told them that she had just returned after 2 months. I was then refused a replacement card and informed to contact the National health UK. As we had both worked in Spain and paid for our health care there We both got Spanish Insurance. I nhave twice attempted to get a sip for her with out sucsses

Hi Kim we have been residents in Spain for the last 40 years, and as we both worked there we were given our national health insurance as self-employed. by Spain and until we had my wallet stolen never had any problems. We got stuck in the UK due to the Virus. with any luck we should be home in the next two weeks.

Sorry, I should have said, are you legally resident in Spain?  I recently heard of someone who has been permanently resident in Spain for 7 years, with a work contract, through which they make their social security contributions, but when they asked their employer about applying for residency, they were told it wasn't necessary!  Do you and your wife have the old style, green residency papers, or have you swapped them for TIEs?

Do you have records of your social security contributions in Spain?  I'm not clear whether you're both in Spain at the moment, but it sounds like you need to speak to the manager at your health centre.  Leaving Spain for 2 months should be perfectly acceptable if you're both legal residents.

Apologies for what must sound like interrogation, but it doesn't make sense, given the circumstances you've described, that your wife's SIP wouldn't be reissued.  The only thing I can think of is that your status has changed for some reason, post-Brexit.

Kind regards,

Kim

Hi Kim I agree with you it does not make sense but I have tried many times to get this SIP for my Wife Pre Brexit.  We both got caught out in the UK with the virus. and have been staying here as I have been able to get medical treatment unsuccessfully.  but with no questions asked . Both of us will be back home in the next 2 weeks so I will have to try again to get her SIP I have seen her details. on a PC while at a different Medical center.   But they told me the SIP could only be issued in Ondara the same center which issued my but will not issue my wife's. thank you for your interest I need somewhere where I can appeal to get this sorted.

I live nearby in Beniarbeig, I do know that the staff at Ondara reception can be difficult occasionally.

However, do you both hold a Residencia card or TIE? If so did you present it with your up to date Padron?

Also did you ask them the reason why they refused it? A 2 month absence from the country wouldn't result in a refusal.

I'm beginning to think there's an issue you're not being forthright about!

It would require a fee but the ladies at the Gestoria Asfic in Benidoleig should be able to sort this out for you.

The advice I was given was to have my wife included on my SIP card trouble not able to get a appointment in Denia at the sosial services office
