Is this just the NIE number, used for fiscal transactions, or are you referring to a residency document? The NIE number is yours for life but I understand that the certificate is only valid for 3 months. https://www.spaindesk.com/nie-number-spain/ and https://mynie.co.uk/lost-nie-number-spain-replacement/

This may help ..... https://www.immigrationspain.es/en/duplicate-nie-if-lost-or-stolen/

If you are resident and have either TIE/Spanish driving licence/SIP card it will be on all those and that will totally trump any piece of paper.

The only time I can imagine needing a piece of paper is if you're non resident because you will have none of the documents mentioned nor anything else official with your number on it on.

Bottom line then, if you have any of said documents there is absolutely no point whatsoever in wasting your time trying to obtain what will be a completely useless piece of paper!
