šŸ‘‹Hi,

So me and my husband are looking to move to Spain in the next year or so. My major concern is my children are now 13,11,7 and moving them and getting a school they can study at ease in. They donā€™t have any Spanish behind them and private schools arenā€™t an option due to the fees. Can anyone advise me on schools and options I could have that arenā€™t extremely expensive. We are going to benidorm early next year to try and suss some things out but we want to go see Alicante and Santa pola also as we donā€™t know where we want to be. Any advice would be amazing please Thank you

Firstly and before you can get proper advice, do you have UK or EU passports?

Going by your name you could possibly be Irish with Irish passports?

My husband will have his eu passport in a week and I have mine. We knew this part as my husbands dad had to get a visa for Portugal

That all sounds like you are virtually set to come over. Don't forget that you will need to sign on the foreigners register at the national police station within 90 days of arrival. Sorry I can't help you with schools.

All good information here:

I recommend you go further south (Murcia region...) because in the regions to the north, the local language (Valenciano, Catalan...) is also spoken and taught at school. This is a big additional burden for the children if they also have to learn this language.

You are not giving enough background information. Do you intend working when you get to Spain.  Will you qualify for employment in Spain. Will you get residencia. Will you meet the criteria to get this. Where will you live. Will you buy or rent. Have you a property in Ireland to sell. I think you have a lot of work to do before you start looking for schools. Will the children and yourselves be able to live in the close to 40 degrees heat in the Summer.

Only from south of Torrevieja I can recommend. Further north, Valenciano is still required at school.

We both will be working, my husband is a qualified chef, has a safe pass, a grounds keeper and his security pads, I have a business degree, pharmacy technician and currently a grocery manager, but Iā€™m the middle of doing a tefl teaching course. We both have eu passports, and know we have to get residency before 90days. We rent in ireland so no sales required and we will be renting coming over also.
the reason Iā€™m asking about schools is because itā€™s my only concern about moving to Spain that my children will struggle getting an education as no Spanish backround. The rest we can work easily
