Hi, there is nobody doing timeshare promotion now in Benidorm.

Where do you expect to do Customer service?

Do you speak fluent Spanish?

To live in Spain legally you will need to sign on the foreigners register after living in Spain for 90 days and obtain a NIE number. You will need to prove to the authorities that you have full healthcare cover for yourself and prove you have a regular income which is sufficient to satisfy the authorities you will not become a burden on the state. After 183 days of living in Spain you will automatically become tax residents and are required to pay taxes to the Spanish tax man instead of HMRC.

It's not so easy nowadays to just arrive in Spain and getting bar work etc like everybody still thinks. The authorities are really clamping down on unregistered residents. I should imagine it will be far worse after Brexit.

If I can help you with specific questions about Benidorm please ask.

Hi Steve,

I am of the opinion that you coast this site, just to knock the fresh ambition of those coming for a new life.  You did the exact same thing to me as you have with this Irish lady.    It is one thing to help in a friendly way, but is appears that you have a chip on your shoulder and prefer to 'slate' people.  Dare I guess that you may be a retired accountant?  I have heard this profession usually has a 'chip' on their shoulder, as they spend time counting the money of those who earn more than they.

Loose the chip.

Well HeatherFionn you are very opinionated indeed😞

No I'm not a retired accountant i worked in aerospace  industry and retired 2 years early to come to live in this wonderful city of Benidorm. The problem with wannabe brit expats is that they think they have the right to come here without having to be legal and expect to get any job they apply for. I explained carefully in my post exactly what is required to live legally in any part of Spain. Some people find it hard to grasp the requirements that is necessary for legality. After brexit will be different again.

I belong to several Spanish related forums and some which are closely linked to government sources. I, as many other (down to earth) posters offer realistic answers and keep our heads out of the clouds when advice is asked for.

If i can help with any specific questions about Benidorm please ask.

Steve

I notice that, in your replies, you automatically assume that the person making the general enquiry has not made preparations through the proper channels and applied, or already is in possession of an NIE number.  You did this with me.  Your manner was pompous, which unfortunately is a manner I have experienced from British ex pats also in France.  I have also witnessed the British ex pats assuming they can have the good life while cheating the system and being misfit back stabbing and lazy.

Most notably, in both your replies in May to another lady and recently to me, neither people were British ex pats, most fortunately, but Irish, a much friendlier, intelligent and hard working race.  Try not to think which such blinkers.

Thank you for your extremely opinionated reply. If you knew my last name you would realise immediately that i am also irish and thats why i refer to "Brit expats" in my last post. I do generalise in my postings and never assume anyone has their NIE or any other paperwork that is required. I have had posters asking me to make lists for them about how to proceed to be legal and where to go to get such paperwork. Some (Brits or Irish) have no idea that you need an NIE and expect that the healthcare is as available here as in the UK. According to the British embassy in Alicante everyone who wants to retain the privileges they have now must be legal before brexit so there is no problem with reminding every nationality here of that fact. Do you not agree with that or would you rather some, as some are, stay ignorant and it be to late by 2020. I wonder if you have secured a job yet?

I will not enter into an email tennis match with you - it is beneath my intelligence.  As I mentioned one should not assume anything and to do so demonstrates ignorance and narrow mindedness. Hence one could never assume you are an Irish person merely due to the fact you have the honour of possessing an Irish name. It is admirable you attempt to help people, please do so without offensive and defensive ego present.  I heretofore cease this commination thread.

As you say, and i agree, one should not assume anything and i never assume anyone has an NIE or paperwork relating to being legal and that is why i give full information regardless.

One should never give the impression that its easy to settle here and then letting new arrivals be heartbroken.

End of  conversation 😐
