Hi

My partner and I are looking to maybe take early retirement in 3 years time and to buy a property and maybe move to Spain for the weather. While living on small pensions.

However I breed British Shorthair cats. If I brought 4 breeding cats ( 1 Male & 3 females over to Spain is there still a market to sell the cats/ kittens in a European market? This breed is pro dominantly an indoor breed so no need to worry about outside.

I’ve uploaded an example as to what the breed looks like. 🤗 . Thank you in advance for any advice.

Any additional info you can give me on veterinary costs/ availability would be very helpful.

I would look into the requirements to be a breeder here and if you have any certifications are they recognized here first of all and if it is possible under the cheapest tax scheme.

You probably will not be able to do this in a city so you would need a mortgage, rent or purchase a property outright.

Taxes are going to be your biggest concern. Might have to sell multiple cats per month just to pay your bills.

Yes know fife & wcs Cat shows show through out Europe but this doesn’t mean that in Spain a demand for this pedigree cat would sell. ??

All the breeding cats would hold certificates from gccf & fife cat shows.

Ok so with all the work on costs, it sounds like an non starter venture as within the uk they barely just brake even on costs. 😒 sounds like I may be bringing over 5 neutered cats. Rx

Good idea and retirement means retirement..What you are proposing is a full-time job.
