If you want to live in Spain permanently you will need apply for residency within the first 90 days of arriving in Spain and prove you have enough income to satisfy the authorities that you won't become a burden on the state or, so I understand, have a large bank balance that the official deems acceptable. You will need full healthcare for yourself and any dependants.

Can you suggest a figure of what would be acceptable or do you know anyone that could advise?

I understand that the income needed to satisfy the authorities at the moment is between €750 - €900 per month. It could differ depending on the department official on the day or what mood he/she is in. It is that fickle I'm afraid.

Personally I was asked to supply the last 3 months bank statements which had regular income paid into a Spanish bank which had to be stamped and signed by the bank official and supply a letter from the same bank to confirm that the statements were in fact true and that it was my account!!

After 1st January 2021 I've heard that the income figure will jump four fold.
