Hi Everyone,

I'm writing this from the UK in the hope that someone might have a way of getting my Mum back onto her internet connection.

My Mum's internet provider changed when the management of her apartment block changed - they wanted 250 euros for what was a free service.  My Mum was disputing the cost and then lock down came - so she has been left with no internet.  She has a Tesco mobile PAYG SIM - which I think is a locked phone.  She tells me that her internet allowance only lasts a few goes on FB and a bit of browsing.

I have unlimited minute sim to call her from the UK but she cant calll me.  Which is fine but I would be happier if she had access to the internet at home so she can access wifi for her mobile.  I'm sure she misses FB etc. because that was our main way of all her friends and family keeping contact.

There are not many people who she can talk to apart from the Caretaker and she doesnt speak Spainish and he has a little English.

Any ideas are welcome - many thanks in advance.

Hi Sorry I can’t offer any advice about getting your mum back on the internet at home. What about if she got her Tesco Phone unlocked? She could then shop around for a sim that would suit her needs until the home Internet is sorted.I found this about unlocking a Tesco phone if it’s any help to you.How do I unlock my Tesco pay as you go phone?Make a note of the IMEI of the device you wish to unlock by dialling *#06# on it and then call us on 0345 301 4455. We'll send you a text with a code to unlockyour phone and instructions of how to do it.

Paying to unlock your phone

We don’t charge you to unlock pay as you go phones over 12 months old. If you’ve got a pay as you go phone less than 12 months old, you’ll need to pay £10.

To pay, just top-up the Tesco Mobile number you gave to us and we’ll take the £10 payment from the SIM card within 24 hours.

I hope she can get it sorted.
