Hi Guys

Thought this might interest you because the UK travel rules are so grossly unfair and expensive.

This week my eldest daughter was due to fly back from Italy with her grandmother after spending the summer with her. There was an issue in Italy and they couldn't fly, so my wife decided to fly there and pick her up. This is what she did, booked the flights, went to farmacia got her proof of double jab (absolutely free) because she couldn't find it online, it took literally 2 minutes. She went to the airport got the plane and off she flew. No problems.

So what I don't get is why are the UK making it so difficult to fly back even if only for a few days? Doing all the tests (that have to paid for), the location forms and the house checks they do to make sure that you are where you say you were going to be with the added cost of an optional 5 day test. I know its all about money but just seem really unnecessary.I think they UK now needs to ease up

I genuinely don’t believe that it’s all about money.  It’s our duty to make sure that we are not infectious when going to a country to visit and equally returning home.

There are STILL so many vulnerable people scared stiff of catching Covid regardless of being double jabbed, we are all still vulnerable.  I have heard of 2 females aged around 60 and a male aged 72 all fully vaccinated who died last month in our area in NI.  You may disbelieve this but it’s a fact.   I like to come over to our house in Spain as do we all. It’s up to us to stop annoying ourselves able paying for tests.  Get them done and make sure that you are infection free. None of us want to get it. My husband has COPD and if he caught Covid, he may not die but his breathing would certainly be worse and he cannot afford that to happen. We will continue to follow the guidelines and I ask all of you decent people to do the same. Please.

Very well said Grannyrose!! I fully agree. Its really annoying when people will do anything to avoid the rules. Very selfish.....

If its not about money then why charge people? Especially on the UK side when medical care is free? People are perfectly safe to fly according to Europe thats why people just need a double jab and not loads of tests and paperwork. Maybe the UK government is milking the situation and not telling anyone.

Hi

Although I don’t want to pay for the tests but  I do. I once thought it was about the money but it’s to detect other strains coming from other countries. And by testing with the paid for tests this is how they detect them. You can order a cheaper version C19 for £25 each which saves you going to a farmacia and do the tests and send them off and they will send you a QR code

Hope this helps and stay safe

...nyone.

Perhaps it will go towards the extra £10billion the Government announced will go to the NHS to help address the backlog of cases created by the covid pandemic? An amount that it is already said is not enough.

Aitch.

Perhaps or perhaps not, thats a big assumption. A much more accurate assumption would be that will be wasted. The UK government I guarantee won't reinvest the NHS.

But either way doing an online assessment is still sufficient or a free certificate from the farmacia, in my opinion.

Yes Martyn, I agree with you 100%. We have always abided by the rules, and I am happy to continue to do so for as long as necessary, but most of these tests are unnecessary.

I abide by them aswel but I see them pointless. Europes way is alot better, they don't want anyone to die from an infectious virus, they take every precaution nessarcery and don't see the need for PCRs and all this messing around filling in forms
