Morning guys.

I was just woundering if anyone knows if british people living abroad would be allowed a covid vaccine if they went on holiday to the UK, I have googled it but for me its not really clear. I've been abroad for 10years all my paperwork is spanish except my passport and the last time i went to the UK i couldnt even see my doctor because of the stupid system where doctors now call you (i last went long before covid), so don't know if I would get an appointment. I would like to be able to go back with the kids and go for a meal with family and friends but if im not vaccinated i might not be allowed if they want to see a vaccine passport.

You won’t be allowed a vaccine on returning to the UK for a holiday, unless you are in the UK healthcare system and book one in advance iaw current UK procedures. There are many people in the UK patiently waiting here in line to be called forward for their vaccination, so simply coming back to the UK and getting a vaccination is not a simple option

It may depend on your current situation here, if you are resident and have an S1 and relinquished your UK healthcare for the Spanish health care then I don't think you will be eligible.

However as a Spanish resident if you have Private Health Care because you are not eligible for an S1, or by choice maintain PHI, have a UK address, you technically haven't relinquished your NHS cover then you may be eligible. This would need confirming with the NHS but would appear technically possible.

Suppose you did get the first vaccination? would you not have to wait 12 weeks+ for the second? to obtain the Vaccination passport?

Im in spain and havent had any vaccine but i want to go back to UK in summertime for a week, if its possible. So it would be handy if i could atleast get the first jab whilst there and then fly back here, i know theres a list but young people are now getting done because my mates have had theres and they are all less than 40 and dont work on the front line or are a higher risk, infact 2 of them dont even work

...ssible.

Iv been a legal resident 9years, when i last was there my doctor wouldnt see me he had to call me but i obviously have a spanish number so the receptionist said he wouldnt call non UK numbers. But i do ask the topic question because when i rang up the doctors last time and was speaking with the receptionist, i said purely as a joke that if i was a refugee or an asylum seeker that i bet i would be seen and her exact words were, "unfortunately yes because we have a duty to those first as they need help" (being geordies it was said in a much rougher way and she clearly agreed with me). So now there's a pandemic maybe we might get seen i dont know.

I would certainly give it a try and don’t really see any reason you wouldn’t get it. It’s  in the interests of everyone for everyone to be vaccinated whoever and from wherever. The virus doesn’t know the difference !  Mind you the cost of return, tests, packages and 10 days isolation isn’t very attractive. Good luck !

Thats why i was thinkin summer, because although i can go to our house in italy by car or driving without issues the restrictions are different for the UK. Thats why im asking, in hope that people living in the UK may have asked the question to the medics giving the jab because they may have family abroad.

In terms of whether it's possible to book a vaccine in the UK I think much of it depends on whether you still have an NHS patient number. I ran through the online booking system over there a month or so back after getting a text and if you don't know your patient number you have to enter your name and date of birth along with your post code, from what I can remember, as registered. I backed out f the process after clearing data checks but before booking an actual vaccine my curiosity having been satisfied.

I left the UK 8 months or so ago.

Whether it's the right thing to do is another matter :)
