Always better to fill up in Spain as cheaper than Portsmouth.  Your choice which route you want to take but there motorways where you pay a toll are very quiet and underused and easy to drive on.

Hi

I do this route all the time, it’s best to fill up in Spain, I also think the best route is to head towards Logroño then Zaragoza down to teruel then Valencia on to benidorm.

Hope this he

if you check your documentation for the ferry trip you will probably find that you are not allowed on the ferry with a full tank, for safety reasons

I have drove this route over sixty times, yes better to fill up in Spain at the moment with the pound dropping it could end up cheaper to fill up in the uk.it would be be advisable to check on fuel prices before your trip.the route I take A8 to bilbao then AP8 then onto the AP68 to Zaragoza then onto A23 to valencia then head for alicante A7 and AP7 and you will arrive at destination.just over 610 miles.enjoy your trip

Just one other point take no notice of people saying don't fill your tank up.it is a load of codswallop.
