Were coming back to Spain via ferry docking into Santander. Were British citizens but Spanish residents. Do we show our passports or TIE cards or both. Any advise on bringing our own goods into Spain would be helpful. Thanks

We returned a couple of weeks ago by ferry, and passports were fine, even though I had my TIE on me. The main problem was bringing our furniture and clothes. My solicitor assured me we would not be charged import duty or IVA, as it was my wife’s furniture, and as she has not resides in Spain, she would not have to pay.

Long story short, you do have to pay import duty and IVA. Luckily, the Spanish guys in the office were great, put a very low value on our van load and paid very little, but a few irate people were being charged full whack.

If you have any furniture/goods, save yourself hassle and time and declare it before you leave.

Good luck

Danny
