British Retirees in Alicante: post-Brexit adaptation research
Hi everyone,
I hope it’s okay to repost this as I’m still looking for participants.
My name is Raquel and I’m a PhD researcher currently carrying out fieldwork on British retirees living in the Costa Blanca after Brexit. I’m looking for people based specifically around La Nucía, Altea, Albir, Villajoyosa and Benidorm who might be willing to share their experiences.
I’ve been very lucky to receive a great response from other areas of Alicante (including through this forum), but I’m still missing perspectives from this particular part of the coast which is such a key and diverse area.
I’m interested in all kinds of experiences: whether you’ve been here for years or arrived recently, live here full-time or part of the year, are very settled or still figuring things out. There’s no “typical” story, and that’s exactly the point.
A bit about me: I’m a university researcher (https://cvnet.cpd.ua.es/curriculum-breve/en/gil-monllor-raquel/325511), and I’ve already worked closely (and without any issues) with local associations, U3A groups and community organisations in other parts of Alicante. This is purely academic research, and everything is confidential and anonymised.
Taking part would involve an informal conversation in English, that should last about an hour.
If you’re based in this area and would be open to participating, or just want to ask a couple of questions first, feel free to reply here or send me a private message.
Thanks very much for your time 🙂
