We sold everything we had before we moved to Benidorm 9 years ago and have never regretted a day, we both love it here.

As a backup when we sold our house in the UK we put the house sale money in the bank and didn't spend any just in case we didn't settle here. (It's still there in our account)

It's very, very different living here full time compared to holiday mode. Everyday chores bring you back to earth!!!

We still need to clean, weekly shopping, paying bill etc, etc

Generally, full time resident Expats don't go out drinking every day or watch shows until the early hours. It can be very hard to make a living here if you need to work. I wouldn't recommend that.

However, there are many good points, beach, sun, slower lifestyle and cheaper living.

If you have specific questions about Benidorm please ask.

Steve

EDIT: Don't forget that you will need some sort of visa to be able to move to Benidorm full time. You will need to prove income and healthcare requirements.

I think the first thing to do is find out if you qualify financially for living in Spain full time.

Also look at what monies you will have left if you do sell and look at properties in the UK which you would be able to purchase, obviously prices change but the forecast is for them to come down in price?

Could you not rent your UK property for 3 months on a short lease until you decide where you want to be.

Hope it helps a bit

I think rather than ask those questions you  first need to work out if it is actually feasible for you to move permanently to Spain.

If you are a UK passport holder you will need to apply for a non lucrative visa to obtain your residencia. As long as you meet the criteria you can then start thinking about living your dream.

Although you’ve had holidays here, have you been at different times of the year?  Spain in Jan/Feb is a completely different world to your sun, sea and sangria holidays.  Use your 90/180 days wisely to visit at different times of the year.
But yes thousands of people sell their properties  and make a permanent move and you’ll find properties are generally cheaper here..

Take time to find the right property and the ideal location. Taxes are horrendous on buying and  selling and Spanish red tape is  shall I say “challenging “

Make sure you qualify for a visa to live here first.I sold up in the UK 6 years ago and have lived here full time since. It was the best move for me and I love it.No regrets. The UK was home but since I became an immigrant here I have told my wife there are no circumstances that would make me move back.Bold statement!

Hi,

You can have your savings in any bank you choose as long as you can prove you have the required income going into your bank account to support your NLV application. You must get bank statements printed out and fully stamped.

Main applicant needs minimum of 4 x IPREM plus 1 x IPREM for each additional family member.
