New to Benidorm and Poniente beach. Looking to make friends to help make the most of things. I like the beach, swimming, eating out. Particularly interested in issues around securing Residencia.

Hi Dave and welcome to the forum,

The answer to your residencia question will depend on your nationality.  Irish?  British?  Other Third Country?

Kind regards,

Kim

If you hold a UK passport you will need to apply for a visa from the Spanish consulate while you are still living in the UK. You will need to meet the income and healthcare requirements.

If you want to come to Spain and look for work then you will need to apply for a work visa. A work visa will need to be sponsored by a prospective employer.

If you gain a visa you can then move to Spain and apply for residency.

Hi Dave,

I'm afraid it's much harder to gain residency in Spain, or any other EU member state, since Brexit.  As a UK citizen, you are now a Third Country National and, as Steve has said, you have to start the residency process in the UK.  This is a guide to applying for a Non Lucrative Visa, for those Brits who don´t need to work in Spain:

How to apply for a Non-Lucrative visa (NLV)

If you're already in Spain, you can stay for a maximum of 90 days - don't risk overstaying, as you could be denied entry when you try to return to Spain or any other EU country in the Schengen travel zone.

Kind regards,

Kim

If you have an Irish passport then you can move over to Spain and then you must sign on the foreigners register at the police station.

It means you're a European citizen and things are much easier.
