Hello, my partner (English) and I (Spanish) currently live in the UK and we are going to travel to the Costa Blanca next month to get to know the area with the intention of buying a holiday home.

Can you please tell me in which area there are more expats residing all year round? We plan to visit from Calpe-Altea-Polop-La Nucia-Alfaz del Pi-Benidorm-Villajoyosa. Also find out if there is a social club with activities to meet friends. Thank you!

There are many expats living in all those areas you mentioned.

Probably Benidorm has the most expats of the areas you are interested in. I live in the Rincon de Loix area of Benidorm and there are many nationalities here but I would say that British are the majority.

There are no particular meeting places and there are no expats clubs. There is an international club called the U3A which has branches throughout Spain and parts of the world.

Expats usually get to know each other by meeting each other socially in local bars etc or through friends of friends.

Hello Gemma

I have to ask out of curiosity but as a Spaniard, why do you prefer to have a home  where there are more expats and not  spanish  locals?

Cheers

Social clubs in all those places except maybe. Benidorm, the one in La Nucía is nice as is the one in Polop. There is also ones in La Cala Finestrat and Vila Joiosa but I don't know what they are like, however the the first two I mentioned are mostly visied by Spanish with the odd British resident

Hi Elinspain, it's because my partner doesn't speak Spanish, so we must  have Brits friends!.

Benidorm, best of both worlds, has frequent Spanish and British visitors, the town is a friendly mix of all nationalities, all your health needs, plenty of employment for those who require it,certainly worth looking at as a couple it covers all the bases.
