Yes, the strain is a concern, though the overall weekly cases have gone up by around 10% in the UK and deaths continue to fall. I have not read of any immediate changes in the UK government lockdown easing plans. I did not see last nights TV update.
Still waiting to see if the current vaccines protect against this variant, probably too early to say. The people who are most likely affect by this strain in the first instance are the one's who have the lowest uptake in vaccinations. ...

And where is the lowest uptake of vaccines in the UK? In the Black and Asian communities. I saw a report from Bolton yesterday, where community leaders said their greatest problem is the younger Asians, who don't believe Covid-19 is 'real', rather that it's a means of government control 🤦♀️
I was out last night, so I've only seen a summary of what BoJo said at the press conference, but it appears he's going ahead with Monday's Step 3 easing of restrictions 🤔
