Holidaymakers beware. I just read this in the local paper.

If I remember correctly, it isn’t the first time guests have been robbed in there, I remember that it was the actual hotel staff who were responsible for a series of thefts

Good warning, well done. Personally I don’t trust the man that works in the hotel and dresses as a woman, and used to be a brick layer in Germany.

Before I clicked in who you meant I thought you meant that pickpocket who dresses as a woman who used to hang about near there a few years ago 😂

Sorry to read this, but.....
Never, never, leave valuables unattended in a hotel bedroom. I wouldn't do it in the UK, and I wouldn't do it in Spain. A locked bedroom door is not going to prevent entry. The large hotels in the resorts must know that they're magnets for thieves during July/August but I do wonder if any employ security and have CCTV monitoring. Probably very little but stand to be corrected.
But...the hotel is not liable to provide insurance for your loss of valuables, you are. The article says how "unhelpful" the hotel were but it didn't mention how helpful the families' insurance company were. Why not.... perhaps inconvenient to print that?
