I cannot tell you how shocked and horrified I am by the horrendous responses I have received to my post on this topic. I continue to stand by my reply that I have posted on this forum to share any knowledge I have and not to seek public thanks. As I have said before posters may not be as pc liter...

When I mentioned to you some weeks ago that  I found you rude & abrasive to people on this forum, you  replied 'everyones entitled to their opinion, that is the beauty & purpose of a forum like this'!!

Last night, 2 people were asking questions & offering help, & your response  to them was rude & patronising.

Morning peeps,

I wasn't on the forum yesterday, so I've just been catching up.  I'm really shocked by this thread, especially given that it's titled "Politeness and manners".

I understand Tebo53's frustration, but the best way to deal with ungrateful people is not to bother helping them again.  But I don't understand what happened next.  CP offered their opinion in a polite way and GC from VC, equally polite, "respected" that.  However, because CP referenced functionality about the "lampshade" (bell), which some didn't appear to be aware of, they were then targeted by others and it became a free-for-all.  Interestingly, I don't see anyone being lambasted for taking the rise out of Martyn for not knowing who/what Alexa is.....  Double standards, or horses for courses?  That's a rhetorical question which, I believe, shows how individuals' values can differ, but that doesn't make them wrong.

Personally, like CP, I always use the 'Helpful' button as a thank you, even though it could be argued that's not what it's intended for, and I'm more than happy for others to whom I've responded to do the same thing, if that's their preference.  Of course, my post is just my personal opinion and we're all entitled to one - so long as we keep it polite and friendly.

(Voy a comer todo......) Hasta la pasta! 😉

Kind regards,

Kim
